Know ya self

A time and place to talk about mix-d issues is infrequent for most people. This workshop aims to provide an environment where young mixed race people can openly discuss these issues and to create an atmosphere where young people will share stories and opinions and realise that they are not always alone in their experiences.

'Know ya self' relates to identity and being comfortable with who you are. It relates to challenging stereotypes which are sometimes unknowingly imposed on individuals by other people. Its purpose is to encourage the young people to be confident and proud of who they are.

The work of the multiple heritage project is extremely relevant because each individual person has different experiences during a lifetime; so by rising, developing and summarising ideas concerning racial concepts in workshops it allows for each person taking part to consider and expand on themes which are relevant to the them.
