Mix-d Conference
Flixton Girls High School attend the national mixed conference 14th October - Black History Month. What an experience we had encountered, as we voiced our opinions and met new people in the same circle of dual heritage, and also adults from the middle ages who lived different lives and experienced many things as children because of their colour of skin. We enjoyed the group meetings, where we were all made welcome and spoke to on a one to one basis, where we were able to say how we are treated in today’s society because of our skin colour, and also how we feel to be of our race. As the day went on we were all inspired by the whole conference, and thought that our involvement and contribution to the Bradley project was a positive and educational thing for us to do. As we attend FGHS, which is a predominantly caucasian school, it was a very exciting and motivating experience for us to be a part of. Thanks soo much for inviting us to such a sucssesful, fun and challenging day! We hope to see you again in the near future.
I think the multi heritage conference was an excellent opportunity for our girls, to share there opinions and voiced there ideas and views with other young teenagers of different dual heritage. The conference inspired confidence within our girls, also encouraged them to take an active interest in their history. Many thanks to Bradley for all his hard work. And to our invite.
The day was finished with a performance, that happily finished of the day with a touching story told through rap. This created a happy atmosphere and left us feeling content.
This amazing opportunity for us students of Flixton Girls High School, is all down to Bradley. If it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t have had the chance to speak out about our race, our emotions to who we are and our background. We thank him a lot, as we appreciate the experience he had to offered. It has taught us a lot and also has made us more aware of the great things of being dual heritage.
